Electromagnetic Transducer with Asymmetric Diaphragm |
A transducer whose
cone is asymmetric in that its geometric center is not at the axis of
the motor. Chords of the cone which are opposite each other are of
different lengths, and chords which are next to each other are of
different lengths. This eliminates common breakup modes in the cone,
which is especially important in high frequency reproduction. |

Tabbed Speaker Frame with Oversized Diaphragm |
A transducer frame
with non-tabbed sections that terminate immediately adjacent the outer
edge of a surround, and sections that tab outward to provide mounting
screw holes outside the surround. The outer edge of the surround in the
non-tabbed sections has an axial orientation, to maximize the size of
the surround for a given frame size. Square and hexagonal frames provide
excellent packing of multiple transducers into a single loudspeaker
array. |

Nanoporous Diaphragm for Electromagnetic Transducer |
A transducer in
which the diaphragm has an extremely low overall density. The diaphragm
is made of aerogel, solgel, or other nanoporous material, and may have a
thin skin of metal or plastic for strength. Dome tweeters and the like
benefit significantly from reduced moving mass and higher rigidity which
shifts the first breakup mode to higher frequency, yielding extended
high frequency response, reduced distortion, and increased output. |
